The B&G Standard Build Caletta is one of the most exquisite, elegant and truly unique electro acoustic guitars available today. While inspired by pre-World War II parlour acoustics, B&G describes it’s Caletta model as ultimately “a modern guitar with the spirit, look and feel of vintage classics”. It’s therefore an instrument built to satisfy contemporary players without sacrificing any retro charm, and practically every aspect of the B&G Standard Build Caletta guitar was designed with comfort and playability being the priority.
Old Meets New
B&G make no secret of being traditionalists. They know that old-school building techniques provide various advantages in tone, feel, look and overall mojo, but they’re also fully aware of the weak points of century-old acoustic guitars. That’s why B&G’s Caletta model is crafted using the best that the American acoustic guitar building tradition has to offer, along with their very own road-tested innovations.
X-Bracing
B&G brace their soundboards with a traditional X pattern; yielding a punchy yet full-bodied tone. Combined with the warmth generated via the 12th fret neck-to-body joint and Rosewood back/sides, plus a well-tuned soundhole to boot — this results in a very balanced-sounding instrument that blossoms at all of the right frequencies. It’s worth noting too that B&G’s braces are made of shaped Spruce, which enables the Caletta’s soundboard to resonate beautifully for a more connected playing experience.
Key Features
- Sitka Spruce Top — A strong a durable wood popular with modern-day American acoustic manufacturers. Yields a broad dynamic range and accommodates various playing styles with its fast, responsive qualities.
- Hide Glue Construction — An ancient adhesive used for traditional instrument-making. It chemically bonds with the wood to ensure greater contact between the parts, allowing the guitar to resonate more fully.
- Nitrocellulose Matte Finish — Old-school lacquer allows the instrument to breathe; delivering an airy and open sound. The modern, non-sticky matte finish enhances comfort and playability too!
- Indian Rosewood Fingerboard — An exotic timber that’s both rich in tone and silky-smooth under the fingers.
- B&G Piezo Under-Saddle System — The discrete, proprietary B&G pickup gives the Caletta an accurate and organic “woody” voice when amplified or recorded direct.
- Hand-Crafted in Israel — Expertly-built in Tel-Aviv, Israel according to B&G’s unparalleled Private Build standards.
- B&G Hardshell Case — Included case provides rock-solid protection.
What is the B&G Standard Build Series?
This new range encompasses B&Gs best-selling guitar models, all boasting pre-selected specs based on the most popular features ordered from their flagship Private Build series. These instruments are still hand-crafted at B&G’s factory in Tel Aviv, Israel by the same team that construct the top-of-the-line Private Build models. The only difference is that the production process is streamlined to make these guitars more accessible, and a lot easier to order!
