‘64-Style Jazz Bass

This Jazz Bass is based on the 1964 model, which is very similar to the J-Bass as we know it today. The construction uses the classic Fender formula of an alder body, maple neck, and a rosewood fingerboard – a reliable combo that’s been tried and tested for decades. The 60 “U” neck shape gives this bass the classic J-Bass slim profile, allowing your hands to swiftly move up, down, and across the fingerboard.

There are some more vintage-correct features that separate it from the modern versions we see today. This bass has an era-correct fingerboard radius at 7.25” for a slightly curved fretting surface and features classic appointments like the metal bridge and pickup covers and the finger rest of the treble side of the bass.

Heavy Relic

The Fender Custom Shop has aged this bass to give it the look of an original ‘64 model as well as an instantly played-in feel from the moment you pick it up. The body is finished in nitrocellulose lacquer which will further age and wear naturally as you play making it uniquely yours.

Sound

Of course, no vintage recreation would be complete without the sound to match. This bass comes loaded with Fender’s Vintage J-Bass single-coil pickups. These pickups give you that classic J-Bass sound, snappy and articulate with great mid and treble response. These pickups, in combination with the volume and tone controls, give you sounds for a wide range of genres and work great for picking, fingerstyle, or slap.
