The Ibanez AE295 is a striking alternative to the sea of natural finish acoustics at this mid-range price. Never afraid to stand out from the crowd, Ibanez have made the AE295 using a luxurious open pore wood featuring a solid white pinstripe and a unique Vai-inspired inlay.
Construction
The back, sides and top on the AE295 are all made of okoume, which resembled the warmth and full body of mahogany. As well as the jumbo size, this makes the AE295 a great choice to hold its own in a big band arrangement.
On top of the nyatoh neck is a sublimely comfortable rounded edge katalox fretboard, possessing a similar tint and feel to ebony. In the hardware department, you’re getting Ibanez’s Advantage pins, making string changes a breeze. The bone nut and saddle keep intonation and string slippage to a minimum.
Electronics
The AE295 is kitted out with an Ibanez AP11 magnetic pickup – an upgrade on your quacky sounding piezo. Along with it you’re getting custom Ibanez electronics with a tone control either boosting the bass or treble.
