Morgan are an American firm based in California that make high end amps and cabs. This 2×12 cab has a Celestion Alnico Gold speaker which is designed to produce stronger bass and a brighter, cutting high end. Chords are going to sound rich but lead playing is this cabs comfort zone. It’s bright, clean and faithfully amplifies your sound, especially when you combine it with one of Morgan’s heads.

Twilight style

This cab has Morgan’s Twilight finish. This has a classic, dark styling with a vivid black/white copntrasting design. As we all know Black goes with everything and this cab suits a whole range of styles.

Open back vs closed back construction

The debate between open vs closed back rages on but in simple terms closed back amps have less back and side volume and a focused sound coming from the front while Open back amps spread the sound around and have a richer, more interesting sound that’s good for filing more enclosed spaces.

This cab is an open back model, a more popular choice if you play smaller indoor spaces without micing up.

The Morgan 2×12 CAB – Gold is a 2×12”, open-back extension cabinet. It utilizes tongue-and-groove Baltic Birch construction to deliver the bass, mid response and great sound you would expect from a Morgan cab. The cab is a fixed baffle 2×12, this is the same construction that you would find from early 60s British speaker cabs and delivers that same classic tone. At the heart of the cab is a Celestion G12H-75 Creamback 16 ohm speaker and a Celestion Alnico Gold 16 ohm speaker wired in parallel for a nominal 8 ohms. This combination of alnico and ceramic speakers give the 2×12 cabinet a huge sonic platform that delivers on all styles. The two different styles of speaker fill sonic holes that may exist when using only one type of speaker in a cabinet. This combination also gives you two different mic’ing options when recording or playing live. The Morgan 2×12 CAB – Gold cabinet gives you the best of clean chime while still having the authority to deliver the dynamic punch that overdriven tones need. As with all Morgan cabinets, oversized 12-gauge speaker wire is soldered between the speaker and terminal, assuring you capture every ounce of valuable tone.
